Two retail stores
Our Owensboro flagship on Wildcat Way and MadCity Scrubs in Madisonville — full-service scrub stores for two Kentucky communities.
Our Story · Since 2009
Seventeen years later, by God’s grace, that little shop has grown into two hometown stores, a production workshop, and a line of apparel worn far beyond Owensboro. We’re humbled by how far it’s come — and grateful to still be exactly who we’ve always been.
The Beginning
When Kandra opened her doors in 2009, Owensboro already had its share of scrub stores. What she brought was a lifetime of craft — years spent in production embroidery, seamstress work, and the patient art of handcrafting a garment by hand. She put that gift to work, and trusted the Lord with the rest.
In August 2009, she opened a small 1,200‑square‑foot shop off Yale Place and served the people who needed it most: the nurses, techs, and caregivers of her own hometown. We don’t take credit for what grew from that first stitch — we’re simply grateful for it.
“We’ve been blessed far beyond what we set out to do — and we don’t forget it.”

The Journey
From a single small storefront to a production workshop and two stores — not a straight line, and never something we did alone. Just one faithful step after another.
Kandra founds The Scrub Shoppe in a 1,200‑sq‑ft space off Yale Place in Owensboro — a craftswoman’s shop for her hometown’s caregivers.
Outgrowing the first space, the store moves to Towne Square North — 3,700 sq ft, and just the beginning.
We launch our mobile division — bringing on‑site uniform sales directly to hospitals and medical facilities, meeting caregivers where they work.
The Scrub Shoppe Nashville opens in an 8,000‑sq‑ft space, and late in the year the Owensboro flagship moves to its current home on Wildcat Way — a 12,000‑sq‑ft retail and production space, including a 2,000‑sq‑ft curated boutique.
Out of nowhere, one of our embroidered sweatshirts catches fire on TikTok. In 42 days more than 8,000 orders come in — enough to sell our manufacturer completely out of stock. We were as surprised as anyone, and thankful for every one of them.
As Josh and his wife start their family, we bring the business home — consolidating back to Owensboro, where it began.
Josh acquires MadCity Scrubs in Madisonville from the Glover family — a 3,800‑sq‑ft store, and a second community to serve the way we’ve served our first.
Seventeen years in: two stores, over 15,000 sq ft of retail space, a 3,000‑sq‑ft production workshop, a mobile market, a boutique, and a wholesale line. More than we ever asked for — and still the same family, grateful to serve.
What We Are Today
We never set out to build something big — only to make good things for the people who wear them, and to do honest work. By God’s grace, that one small shop has grown into all of this:
Our Owensboro flagship on Wildcat Way and MadCity Scrubs in Madisonville — full-service scrub stores for two Kentucky communities.
Industrial embroidery, screen printing, DTF, heat press, and laser finishing under one roof — we don’t order our decorated apparel, we make it.
Our mobile division, on the road since 2018, bringing uniform sales on-site to hospitals and medical facilities across the region.
Roughly 2,000 sq ft of our retail floor given to curated gifts and finds — because the people who care for everyone deserve a little something too.
We supply other merchants with apparel produced exclusively for their brands, and our wholesale line, Wear As Directed, carries our work onto sales floors nationwide.
Founded by Kandra, carried forward by Josh — still family-run, still stitching care into everything, and still giving thanks to God for every bit of it.
The Turning Point
When 8,000 sweatshirts sold in six weeks, it humbled us. People weren’t just buying a sweatshirt — they connected with the care behind it: the embroidery, the original designs, the work of real hands. We took it as a sign to share that gift more widely. Today we’re blessed to produce apparel for other merchants to sell under their own names, and our wholesale line carries our work to stores far beyond our own.
